This supernatural thriller takes a thoroughly modern look at the Jekyll & Hyde myth with style and flair. Steven Moffat’s script is wicked and smart as it puts a new turn on old phrases like, “I have a friend coming over.” James Nesbitt does a flat out wonderful and compelling job in the role of Doctor Tom Jackman who has an unusual affliction. The war between Tom and Hyde is in a rough working truce as the story starts. Add in a 100- year conspiracy, a threat to Tom’s family and a mysterious stranger and you have six amazingly clever and scary episodes.
As a writer, the hardest part of watching a masterpiece like this is avoiding the temptation to steal. As a fan, the joy of Jekyll is the fact that you never quite know what is coming next.
