Freakangels: Volume One- Over

The first collection of the Warren Ellis and Paul Duffield webcomic about a flooded Britain is a character piece about a chunk of fictional real estate. The plot unravels slowly as some of the dozen Freakangels are introduced. They fight and screw and throw tantrums and feel terrible about the terrible thing they did. Meaning its all set up. The book is entertaining, but the trade has no real conclusion. I would suspect that the next few trades will detail the larger conflict and come to some sort of resolution. The script by Ellis is lively and the manga-ish art by Duffield has nice detail.

The question I have to ask is why is this book not coming out from Vertigo? It is cleverly written and a webcomic and it would benefit from the distribution muscle of Time Warner.
