I am a fan of ‘Ringos work and he was a first choice when I had the chance to launch a new series a few years back. So I picked up a copy of the Modern Masters series which has a long interview conducted by his Tellos co-creator Todd Dezago. The interview is wide ranging and well illustrated.
Mike talks about his work in college and how that prepared him for facing deadlines. He covers a load of his comic book projects from Robin to a Rogue mini-series to Spiderman to the Fantastic Four. There are a couple of chapters about Tellos and he is surprisingly honest about why he quit working with Peter David on the Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman title. These books are a nice window into the creative process and good retrospective look at the career of a Modern Master.
