This highly rated British detective series based on the novels by R.D. Wingfield is as dry as toast, but cleverly written. David Jason is charmingly sharp as the unfocused Detective Jack Frost. This set includes three 100- minute movies including mysteries surrounding a 30- year old skeleton, a missing teenager and a casino robbery. Frost is a bit careless and has a way of breaking rules to get what he wants, but what he wants is to catch the bad guy. And he does that with a certain style. Everything in the series has a certain baseline realism to it that is a nice change from the cotton candy we get from Hollywood. First- rate, if a bit dry.
